KW Commercial Training available
KWCommercial training will be held over the next three months. This class is for residential agents that want to learn commercial, new commercial agents, seasoned commercial agents that want to review certain topics, and prospective or new recruits.

The first class is free and will be at the Tysons office on Wednesday, September 5th at 9:30am. The next classes will be the first and third Wednesday each month at a time set by the group at the first class. If someone then signs up for classes 2-10, the cost would be $150. If they want to sign up for individual classes the cost is $20 per class.

The MREA Business Planning Clinics originally planned for August 22nd and 23rd, will be postponed to the 2nd and 3rd of October.

The decision to move the ALC Retreat to the beginning of 2013 was made because, based on the survey, the majority wanted the location moved. Other suggested locations did not allow for October dates which did not conflict with other important events.

Our first official committee meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, August 22nd at 10:45 am (right before our ALC meeting at 11:30). My goal is to meet no longer than about 30-40 mins and just get as many ideas out on the table of ways we can work on growing our KW Reston office as well as putting in place retention plans for our current agents. Real Estate Marketing Strategies: "Do you know what you should be doing, but you aren't doing it?"

As a real estate business coach, I hear from frustrated clients several times a week whose cry for help is: "I know what I should be doing, but I just cannot make myself do it… can you help?"

This is especially common among agents who've been in the business two years or longer. They have taken many accountability coaching programs, and they can't understand why they struggle to implement what they have learned.

How do you know if you subconsciously suffer from this same dilemma? Be aware of the following signs:
Do you find yourself procrastinating?
Do you find yourself doing anything to avoid making calls?
Do you feel de-energized in general?
Are you unmotivated in your life and in your business?
Are you feeling stuck?
Is your income down?
I wonder if you can guess what causes this predicament. How can it be that you know what you should be doing, but you're not doing it?

The answer lies in subconscious and conscious self-limiting beliefs, such as:
"I don't have what it takes to succeed."
"I have to be hard on myself in order to succeed."
"If I call people, then I'm bothering them."
"If I call people, I'll be rejected."
These and many other self-limiting beliefs destroy your confidence and lead you into a slump, personally and professionally.

Often times when you're in a slump you will be tempted to take another accountability coaching program. However, even though there is nothing wrong with these programs, if you already know what you should be doing, then you're just doing the same thing and expecting different results.

Instead, consider the alternative approach of "mindset coaching."

A mindset coaching program simply assumes that you already have systems in place, and that the reason you're not reaching the level of income you want to reach is because you have mental blocks that need to be dissolved.

Both kinds of coaching are valuable. You need to determine which type works best for you depending on your level of development.

In a mindset coaching program, you will be guided by an experienced coach to discover and release your major self-limiting beliefs. In addition, you will be guided to "install" updated empowered beliefs, such as:
"I have all that it takes to succeed."
"It is safe for me to be visible and it is safe for me to shine."
"I have a valuable service to offer and people are happy to hear from me."
"I am a magnet for my ideal clients."
What is the benefit of installing these empowered beliefs into your conscious and subconscious mind? In my experience of working with real estate agents for 15+ years, I found that when they install updated empowered beliefs, they experience the following:
Their energy is restored to a very high level.
They have a renewed sense of hope about turning their business around.
They create a full pipeline of their ideal clients.
They create a multiple six figure income.
Imagine how you would feel if your mind were full of positive beliefs, such as:
"I work smarter, not harder."
"I am perfectly imperfect, like everybody else."
"I magnetize an abundance of clients who are motivated, determined, and appreciative of me."
Best of all, you would be able to say, "I know what I should be doing… and I'm doing it!"

As you all know, the new agency laws went into effect July 1, 2012. With that, we have new forms, more new ones to come, VAR's interpretation of the law and procedure, and finally, more confusion! For those of you who have taken the class, there has been a lot of discussion on when the brokerage agreement must be signed. Please remember that one of the main components of the new law is that all brokerage agreements MUST be in writing. My rule of thumb is the brokerage agreement should be signed at your first face-to-face meeting with the prospective buyer. Please see attached VAR's analysis of "licensed activity" as defining when the brokerage agreement must be signed.

New disclosure forms have been uploaded to eEdge and are on the Market Center intranet.

Committees were formed for Culture (social and community involvement- ALC members Nikki Ryan, Melody Novack, Karin Ebner and Neil Cramsey; members Linda Smith, Stephane Allinquant, Isabel Uribe, Julie Hawkins, Annie Cefferatti- meets first Tuesday of the month at 10.15am), Growth (ALC member Pat Flynn and Ryan Zook; members Barry Allbright, Buky Delle, Brad Boland- meets second Wednesday of the month at noon), and Productivity (ALC members Rob Chevez, Lisa Moroniak & Matt Elliott; members Samer Naji, Fran Kormann, Sue Davis, Tim Finefrock – meets first Tuesday of every month at 1.30 pm) . Exciting plans are in store to take the market center to the next level of achievement… and there are still opportunities to get involved.

Potential new members — commonly known as rushees — go through a recruitment process, traditionally known as rush. As rush progresses, potential new committee members (rushees) list their choices in order of preference. Desirable rushees will receive invitations to the next committee meeting. Ideally, rush is a time for potential new members and ALC committee chairs to meet one another and see if they would be a good fit. It will be fun- and, unlike college, NO ONE gets excluded!
